Is it really important to go to the university in Cameroon?

University education in Cameroon, unemoloyment and jobs

All round the world, university education is now being seen as ''Obstacle'' to real success. In most countries like Cameroon, when you graduate from the High school, the next option is that you are going to the university. This has become problematic as most people graduate from the university even with phDs but do not still have jobs.

According to the National institute of Statistics of Yaounde, the posibility of becoming an entrepreneur or having self employment reduces as peope go up the academic ladder. This implies that the more you school, the higher your love for a job and hence litle or no chances of creating self eployment (entrepreneurship). This is contrary to the 2035 emergence program of the country and most African states. It should be noted that university education in most Western and European countries is only said to be geared towards entrepreneurship and self employment, relative to the African situation.

However, it should be notted that the importance of University education depends on the curiculum (what is taught in the universities in question). It is in this regard that science subjects and professional education are seen to be different. Worthy of notice is the fact that anything that is taught with financial inteligence(that is with the question ofhow it will put food on the student's table) is important.

On the picture you see a teacher teaching his students how to draw an insect (the useless curiculum) on the other one you see someone studying digital marketing via an online course.

It is clear that the person studying digital marketing can easily become an entrepreneur while the other one can only survive by teaching what he learned from his theoretical trainning. It is therefore very clear that one can only become what he studies and believes in.
